Delhi, May 08, 2018 : An "ISI conspiracy" to derail a train near Kanpur sent the railway officials in a tizzy on Monday.
Some local miscreants, suspected to be hired by Maoists or the Inter-Services Intelligence, placed a concrete sleeper on tracks near Fatehpur railway station but the alert driver of Delhi-bound Poorva Express applied emergency brakes to avert a tragedy.
The train hit the concrete block but was not derailed. The NIA suspected the involvement of local criminals hired by ISI and Maoists to derail the train.
Railway officials suspect it to be a case of sabotage and a case has been registered against unknown persons.
Over 2,000 passengers were in the train. Railway sources said the incident occurred around 3.05 am after the train left Fatehpur station. The halt resulted in a delay of nearly 25 minutes.
Railway officials suspect this could also be a case of negligence.
