Amit Shah secured the seat with the highest victory margin in Gandhinagar’s electoral history. The seat is being represented by the BJP since 1989

In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, Amit Shah won from Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat by a huge margin of more than 5.57 lakh votes.

This is the Union Home Minister’s second term as an MP from the Gandhinagar seat, which was once represented by BJP stalwart Lal Krishna Advani.

Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee also won the seat in 1996. He, however, preferred to retain the Lucknow seat (in Uttar Pradesh).

The BJP is currently leading in 23 out of the 25 other Lok Sabha seats in stronghold Gujarat and Congress in one. BJP’s Surat candidate Mukesh Dalal has already been declared winner uncontested from the seat.

Another BJP leader and Union minister, Mansukh Mandaviya, is also poised for a comfortable win from the Porbandar Lok Sabha seat in Gujarat as he is leading by over 3.8 lakh votes.

With the counting process nearing its end, Mandaviya has so far secured 6,25,962 votes, while his nearest Congress rival Lalit Vasoya got 2,45,677 votes.
