"On August 15, at 7 p.m., Anna will appeal to the nation to join the hunger strike for the sake of the country and appeal to everyone to turn out their lights between 8-9 p.m," Arvind Kejriwal, of Team Anna, told reporters on Thursday.

"We appeal that in that one hour of darkness, they should light a diya (an earthen lamp) which will signify a ray of hope to remove illiteracy, hunger and corruption from this country," he added.

Further advising people not to resort to violence during the hunger strike, Kejriwal said: "We have come to know that some mischief mongers may enter the peaceful protests across the country and try to resort to violence. We appeal that no one should resort to violent means and people should not be adversely affected."

"So one should be careful of such elements. Anna has further said that if the government tries to force-feed him, he will appeal to the people of the country for a jail-bharao movement," Kejriwal said.
