New Delhi, October 31, 2016: An army jawan and a woman were killed on Monday afternoon as Pakistani troops resorted to heavy mortar shelling along Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri and Mendhar sectors, Jammu-Kashmir.
The jawan died in Rajouri sector where Pakistani troops targeted Manjakote and Ghambir areas. While the woman died at Golad near Mendhar. Her daughter was injured in the incident. Indian Army are retaliating the unprovoked firing from Pakistan with the same intensity, sources said.
Elsewhere in Bala Kote village, two army jawans were injured in Pakistani shelling. They were later shifted to an Army Command Hospital in Udhampur. Pakistani troops resorted to mortar shelling in at least four places along the Line of Control in Balakote sector of Poonch district. Sources said the affected areas include Dharati, Sohala, Basoni and Panjani villages. A woman, identified as Rubina Kousar, was also injured in the shelling.
The latest casualty comes days after terrorists, aided by Pakistani cover fire, killed and mutilated the body of an army jawan. So far, four army jawans and three BSF personnel were killed in action, amid escalation of cross-border firing between India and Pakistan along the border.
