New Delhi, Nov 16: Activist-turned-politician Arvind Kejriwal filed his nomination papers today from the New Delhi Assembly constituency in a bid to prevent Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit from winning a record fourth term in the upcoming state elections.

"It’s a historic election. 15 years of corrupt rule will be thrown out of power. We are campaigning not to make me the CM, but to make every citizen feel like the CM of Delhi," chief of the year-old Aam Aadmi Party said.

The 45-year-old leader was accompanied by his parents and supporters while he filed his papers at Jamnagar House in Delhi on the last day of filing the nomination for the December 4 polls.

The New Delhi constituency, earlier known as the Gole Market constituency, will witness a triangular contest between Ms Dikshit, the BJP’s Vijender Gupta and Mr Kejriwal.

Mr Kejriwal, his party’s chief ministerial candidate, has by choice pitted himself against Ms Dikshit who has been representing the constituency since 1998.

The BJP has entered the triangular fray by nominating Vijender Gupta, a former Delhi unit party chief who steadily rose in the party ranks after first getting elected to the Delhi University Students Union.
