Asian Games: Goldrush as Avinash Sable, Tajinderpal Singh Toor win medals

Hangzhou, Oct 1, 2023: Tajinderpal Singh Toor clinched a top podium finish in shot put event while Avinash Sable won a gold medal in the men’s 3000m steeplechase with an Asian Games record as India are on a medal rush in athletics. The country has claimed two gold, three silver and four bronze medals in athletics on Sunday.

Notably, more than half of the gold medals came from shooting (6), and one from cricket and equestrian each. India will script history, as Indian badminton team is all set to compete for its first-ever Gold in Asian Games on Sunday.

India’s star player, Aditi Ashok, won silver in golf on Sunday. Indian shooters are also expected to bring medals for the country today.

Other than badminton, two-time boxing world champion Nikhat Zareen, will be in action today to confirm her place in women’s 50 kg final. One medal is already assured from her side.

Olympic medallist Avinash Mukund Sable will spell his charm in athletics  as he will compete in the men’s 3000m steeplechase final. Other than this, Murali Sreeshankar and Jeswin Aldrin will compete in men’s long jump.
