At least 9 killed, 10 injured after van rams into electric pole in Tamil Nadu

Tirupathur, April 02, 2022: At least nine people were killed after a mini van toppled after hitting an electric pole in Javadhumalai area of Tamil Nadu’s Tirupathur.

The driver of the van reportedly dozed off and lost control of the vehicle and rammed into an electricity pole. According to reports, the van toppled after hitting the pole, killing nine passengers.

As many as 26 passengers were involved in the accident and 10 sustained serious injuries and are currently undergoing treatment.

The state government has announced a compensation of Rs two lakh each to the family members of people who died in the accident.

In a statement, Chief Minister MK Stalin extended his condolences to the families. CM Stalin also announced Rs 50,000 each for all those who sustained injuries.
