Auto driver stabs passenger to death over ride fare in Bengaluru, arrested

Bengaluru, June 14, 2023: A passenger was killed while his brother sustained injuries after an autorickshaw driver allegedly stabbed them after a dispute over fare in Bengaluru. The deceased has been identified as Ahmed, while the injured has been identified as Ayub, 26.

 

The incident took place when both passengers took an auto from the Majestic to Yeshwantpur railway station. When they reached the destination, the auto driver demanded more fare which led to a quarrel between them. The auto driver then assaulted the passengers and stabbed them.

While Ahmed died on the way to hospital, his brother Ayub is in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a hospital with severe injuries.

The driver has been arrested. During the investigation, the police found that there were other pending cases against the accused in Hassan district.
