New Delhi, Oct 1, 2011: On the second day of BJP’s National Executive Meet the party tried hard to come out of Narendra Modi’s shadow. In its political resolution, the party took a strident line against the UPA Government and asked its cadres to prepare for mid-term polls in the wake of internal contradictions within the ruling Congress Party.

Advani"The Government with all the internal fueds many not last its full term. The Government is in sucidal mode, we don’t need to disturb," said senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley.

The day one of the National Executive Meet was eclipsed by Modi’s absence and by stressing on the prospects of a mid-term poll, the party on second day tried to drag the agenda back on track and mobilise the cadre.

Ignoring Modi’s absence on day two, the party has also sent a subtle message to the Gujarat Chief Minister that all it is business as usual without Narendra Modi. Sushma Swaraj in her address sought unity within and even exorted party leaders to learn from the mistakes of the ruling alliance. ’Don’t squabble like UPA ministers’ was the point being underlined.

With Advani embarking on his rath yatra later in October, perhaps it was necessary to project a united front against corruption. But with leadership issues remaining un-resolved, as in the past, it does not take much to shatter such bonhomie.
