Bengaluru, Oct 26, 2023: Former Karnataka Chief Minister and senior BJP leader, BS Yediyurappa, has been accorded Z category security by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in response to a recent Intelligence Bureau (IB) threat assessment, said sources.
This decision has been prompted by escalating concerns about Yediyurappa’s safety, with sources indicating potential threats from radical groups operating in Karnataka.
Yediyurappa’s upgraded security detail will be provided by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) commandos, as directed by the MHA. These comprehensive security measures are designed to ensure his safety and include a substantial deployment of personnel.
As per sources, a total of 33 Z category security guards will be assigned to safeguard Yediyurappa. Additionally, 10 armed static guards will be stationed at the VIP’s residence, complemented by six personal security officers (PSOs) ensuring round-the-clock protection.
12 armed escort commandos will be deployed in three shifts to ensure continuous vigilance against potential threats. To maintain constant surveillance, two watchers will be stationed in shifts, further enhancing the overall security framework.
In addition to these measures, Yediyurappa will have the support of three trained drivers, guaranteeing swift and secure mobility.
