During a rally recently organised jointly by the Hindu Hitarakshana Samiti, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal to protest over the violence and detention of Hindus in Bangladesh, Eshwarappa allegedly delivered a hate speech.

On November 16, a case was registered against Eshwarappa, 76, for allegedly threatening Muslims and making provocative remarks while attacking the Congress government over the Waqf row, according to reports.

Earlier this year, the BJP expelled Eshwarappa for six years for violating party lines and contesting this year’s Lok Sabha polls as an independent candidate.

A former Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister, Eshwarappa had blamed Karnataka BJP chief BY Vijayendra and his father and veteran party leader BS Yediyurappa, for not giving a ticket to his son KE Kantesh to contest from Haveri.

Eshwarappa, along with Yediyurappa and late HN Ananth Kumar, is widely credited for building the BJP from the grassroots in Karnataka.
