New Delhi, Mar 04, 2024: Top Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other ministers, tweaked their names on the microblogging site X (formerly Twitter) in response to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s ‘PM Modi has no family’ remark during a poll rally in Patna. The BJP leaders added the phrase ‘Modi Ka Parivar’ alongside their names.
While addressing his party’s ‘Jan Vishwas Maha Rally’ in Patna on Sunday, the former railway minister attempted to retaliate against Modi’s remarks on dynastic politics and said, “Modi talks about dynastic politics, but what is dynastic politics? You (Modi) should explain why don’t you have children?”
In a series of verbal attacks against PM Modi, Lalu Prasad Yadav also claimed that PM Modi was not a Hindu and accused him of spreading hatred.
He said that PM Modi didn’t get tonsured on his mother’s death while mentioning the ritual of getting tonsured on the death of acquaintances.
“Narendra Modi is not a Hindu! Hindu people get tonsured on the death of their acquaintances, but he (Modi) did not do this even on the death of his mother,” said Lalu Prasad Yadav.
Responding to the former Bihar Chief Minister’s comments, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “The entire country is my family. Everyone in the country is saying they are part of Modi’s family. Even for those who do not have anyone, Modi is there with them, and Modi is theirs.”
The RJD chief’s comments drew flak from the BJP.
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha on Sunday criticised the remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, deeming them offensive and disrespectful to Sanatan Dharma.
He said that such behaviour from RJD leaders, including Prasad, reflects their unserious approach to politics and attempts to undermine the centuries-old tradition of Sanatan Dharma. “The language used by Prasad, who himself is convicted in corruption cases, against our PM shows his mindsetthey (RJD) are against Sanatan Dharma and are trying to destroy the centuries-old tradition,” he said.
Sinha defended Prime Minister Modi, highlighting his contributions to Sanatan Dharma and condemning Prasad’s statements. “They (RJD leaders, including Lalu Prasad) behave like political jokers. We must stop such forces. It’s a well-known fact that what our PM has done for Sanatan Dharma”, Sinha told reporters.
