Bangalore, Chennai airports on alert

Bangalore, Jun 1, 2011: Security personnel at the airports in Bangalore and Chennai were put on high alert on Wednesday after an e-mail followed by an anonymous call informing about the presence of bombs.
 
The e-mail was sent to Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) around 5.30 pm on Tuesday. That led to a high alert at the airport and the enclosing area. All vehicles and people entering the airport were being thoroughly screened.
 
Meanwhile, another anonymous bomb threat call was received at the Bangalore airport in the wee hours on Wednesday informing about the bombs at Chennai airport. Both domestic and international airports in the city were also put on high alert.
 
The investigating agencies were verifying the contents of the e-mail and the anonymous call.
