Bangalore: Six commit suicide on a single day

Bangalore, Nov 22, 2012: Six persons, including three housewives and two students, were found dead in separate incidents in the Bangalore City in the last 24 hours. 

SuicideA 31-year-old housewife was found dead at her house in Ramaswamypalya early Wednesday morning. Mary Shashikala had allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in the bathroom Tuesday night.

Shashikala’s mother Roseline told the Banaswadi police that her son-in-law Milton Royan, a businessman, and his mother Arogya Mary had been harassing her daughter for dowry. Both have been arrested under the Dowry Prohibition Act, police said.
Shashikala had married Royan four years ago. The couple have a three-year-old daughter.

MBA student
A 23-year-old business administration student allegedly hanged herself at her house at Pampa Layout in Amrutahalli on Wednesday.

Anusha, daughter of Subbaiah, an ex-serviceman, was doing her Master’s at M S Ramaiah Institute. Her mother worked as a staff nurse at a hospital in the City.

On Wednesday afternoon, when her parents were away, Anusha allegedly SMSed to one of her classmates saying she was ending her life. The classmate rushed to her house and when she did not respond to his calls, he informed neighbours who called the police.

Amrutahalli police broke open the door and found Anusha hanging dead in her room. The body was retrieved and post-mortem carried out at the Bowring Hospital.

Anusha has left behind a suicide note stating that no one is responsible for her death.

Diploma student
A computer science student was found hanging at his house in Gurumurtappa Layout, Hongasandra, Wednesday evening.

Prithviraj, 22, a diploma student at Dayanand Sagar College, Kumaraswamy Layout, ended his life while his parents were away at Kanakapura. In a suicide note, Prithviraj has stated that he alone was responsible for his death.
Madivala police are investigating.

Priest’s wife
The wife of a temple priest ended her life by hanging herself at her house in Malleswaram Tuesday night. According to police, Rekha Bhat, 30, was married to Subbarama Bhat, a priest at Maramma Temple on 8th Cross, Malleswaram. The incident came to light when Bhat returned home at night. Their four-year-old son was sleeping in the bedroom and Rekha had hanged herself in an adjacent room, he told the police.

Shailaja, 30, a homemaker, was found dead, hanging from the ceiling at her house in SBM Colony, Mathikere, Tuesday night.

The reason for her taking the extreme step is yet to be ascertained, Yeshwantpur police said.

Murali, 42, a welder, committed suicide at his house in Someshwara Layout, Bilekahalli. Murali was married to Jyothi and the couple had two sons. Mico Layout police have registered a case.
