DCP P. Harsha said, police had information that Rangarajan was selling laptops worth Rs 60,000 each at 25 to 30 per cent discount.

The reputed firm had been implementing a Corporate Social Responsibility programme under which 900 laptops were to be distributed to poor children through three NGOs.

The company had entrusted this work to its sales manager Rangarajan, but the latter fudged documents to show that he had indeed given away the laptops to the NGOs.
