The BJP worker, identified as Arjun Chourasiya, was found hanging from the ceiling of an abandoned building on Friday, May 6. He was slated to lead a bike rally to welcome Amit Shah, who is on two-day visit of West Bengal.

Condemning the incident, Amit Shah demanded strict against those responsible.

Speaking to the reporters, Amit Shah said, “Yesterday TMC government completed one year of its term. Today, political murders have started in the state. BJP condemns the murder of Arjun Chowrasia. I met the grieving family, his grandmother was also beaten. BJP demands CBI inquiry into the incident.”

“Union Home Ministry has taken cognizance of the incident and has sought a report from the West Bengal government,” Amit Shah added.

The Union Home Minister alleged that there was an attempt to create an atmosphere of fear in west Bengal.

“In Bengal, there is an attempt to silence opposition’s silence, to induce fear using violence and murder. This is conspiracy to create an atmosphere of fear,” Amit Shah said.

He claimed that the BJP doesn’t believe in politics of violence and is not afraid of politics of violence.

Amit Shah also hit out at the law and order situation in West Bengal. He said, “In no other state have these many cases been handed over to the CBI as in Bengal with the High Court’s permission. This tells us that the court does not believe in the law and order situation in Bengal.”

“I had a detailed talk with the grieving family. They are hurt because they lost their son, but they are also hurt because of the administration’s attitude,” Amit Shah said on Friday.
