“My biggest inspiration was my father. He was an IPS officer and we lost him when he was in service,” he said.

Rangamanju completed his schooling from National Public School, Rajajinagar, and MBBS from Bengaluru Medical College and Research Institute. “It was my 6th attempt, I owe my success to my mother, my biggest source of support. I also owe a lot to my biology teacher who is now principal of NPS Rajajinagar,” he said.

Interestingly, Rangamanju did not take any coaching for prelims and mains. He chose anthropology as an optional subject for the mains. “I studied independently. We, a group of friends, engaged in group studies. However, for the interview I took guidance from a private academy and it was very helpful,” he shared.

This year more than 30 candidates have managed to clear the exams from the state. Anupriya Sakya has secured all India ranking (AIR) 120 and another doctor Dayanand, former president of Karnataka Association of Resident Doctors (KARD), has secured AIR 615. A total of 1,009 candidates have cleared the civil services exam across the country.
