Bengaluru, 15 April 2015 :The union government officially notified Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the death IAS officer DK Ravi and CBI team all set to quiz Ravi’s official car driver Elangovan.
The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) of Union Government has issued a notification for a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the “unnatural death” of 2009 batch Indian Administrative Service officer D.K. Ravi and CBI officials from Chennai bureau has been collecting evidences and data pertaining to the death case.
“In exercise of power conferred under the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, the Central government, with the consent of the State Government of Karnataka, extends the powers of the jurisdiction of the members of Delhi Special Police Establishment to the whole of the State of Karnataka for investigation of a case registered on March 16, into the unnatural death of D.K. Ravi in Bengaluru,” said the DoPT notification.
The Karnataka government had earlier set a three-month deadline for the CBI to complete the investigation, which was rejected by the agency. Subsequently, the State lifted the condition.
There is a steady movement of junior-level CBI officers between Chennai and Bengaluru as the premier investigation agency is collecting all documents relating to the mysterious death of DK Ravi from criminal investigation department (CID) in Bengaluru.
Documents, including the first information report (FIR) and other spot inspection reports by the city police have been collected. The CBI team has been collecting some more documents from the criminal investigation department (CID) which later took over the investigation from the city police.
After collecting all materials CBI will list out witnesses and suspects, if any. The first witness will be Ravi’s driver Elangovan, who mysteriously disappeared soon after the incident and remained incommunicado later. CBI will question him as there are certain missing links in his actions just before the IAS officer’s death, sources said.
Meanwhile, the lady IAS officer whose name was dragged in this case has said in her personal facebook page that “truth will prevail”.
