In a statement issued later, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) later "expressed regret" over the incident and said that the concerned sub-inspector has been transferred.

"The CISF woman sub-inspector has been transferred from screening duty to training. CISF has expressed regret on behalf of the woman sub-inspector to the complainant. CISF has taken cognisance of the victim’s complaint and the matter was inquired into. A new sub-inspector was deployed for conducting the screening duty." - CISF

According to an India Today report, the woman sub-inspector allegedly strip-searched the pregnant lady – Doli Goswami – so as to verify her pregnancy. The report goes on to say that no medical professional was called by the CISF, with the sub-inspector pushing Goswami’s abdomen herself apparently to verify her pregnancy.

Goswami’s husband Shivam Sarmah also took to Twitter to narrate the ordeal, saying how his wife was forced to undress to verify her pregnancy.
