Lucknow, Oct 06, 2021: Days after the Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri violence which claimed eight lives, including four farmers, Union Minister Ajay Misra on Wednesday said that the car had lost balance after the driver was injured in the attack and ran over a few people present on the spot.

Reiterating his statement that son Ashish Misra was not present in the car, Ajay Misra has called for an unbiased probe into the incident. Ashish Mishra has also denied his involvement in the incident.

"My son wasn’t there in the car. After the car was attacked, the driver was injured. Following this, the vehicle lost its balance and ran over a few people present there. I’ve expressed sympathy towards those who have lost their lives. There should be an unbiased probe," Ajay Misra was quoted as saying by ANI news agency.

UP Police has also lodged an FIR in the Lakhimpuri Kheri incident, which mentioned Ashish Misra and others as accused and charged them with murder, criminal conspiracy, rash driving, rioting, among others. However, Ajay Misra is not named in the FIR.

Responding to a question about his audio from his address to farmers, Ajay Misra said that the entire audio is not being played and he never said any "ill" words against farmers.

"The entire audio is not being played. I have never said any ill words against the farmers. Only a portion of audio from my address to farmers at an event is being played. Some miscreants present among farmers are only behind the incident," the Union MoS said.

He alleged that at the place where the incident took place some Khalistani elements were present and Bhindranwale posters were also put up.

On being asked if he had been summoned by the BJP, Ajay Misra denied any such claims, saying that he will be visiting Delhi tomorrow for some work.

"The party high command has not summoned me. I will be reaching Delhi by tonight or tomorrow as I have a few work lined up," Ajay Misra was quoted by ANI.

On Tuesday, the Union MoS said he would resign from his post if a single piece of evidence is found against his son Ashish Misra of being present at the incident site.

"I will resign from ministership if a single proof surfaces of my son being on the spot where the incident happened in Lakhimpur Kheri," Ajay Misra told India Today TV.
