PM Modi reached Bengaluru this morning after concluding his two-nation visit. PM Modi said Chandrayaan-3 landing was a moment of great joy, and he wanted to meet the scientists as soon as he returned to the country to thank and salute them.

The spot where Chandrayaan-3’s moon lander landed, that point will be known as ‘Shivshakti’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced at ISRO Telemetry Tracking and Command Network Mission Control Complex in Bengaluru.

He also announced that the day when Chandrayaan-3 landed on the Moon, August 23, would now be known as ‘National Space Day’.

"On 23rd August, India hoisted national flag on the Moon. From now onwards, that day will be known as National Space Day in India", said PM Modi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "The spot on the lunar surface where the Chandrayaan-2 left its footprints will be known as ’Tiranga’. This will be an inspiration for every effort made by India. It will remind us any failure is not final."

He met the Isro scientists around 7.30 am and addressed them. Isro chairman S Somanath presented Prime Minister Narendra Modi with mementos and also gave him a replica of lander Vikram.

“I want to salute every one of you for your hard work and dedication. The height to which you have taken the country is not an ordinary height, not an ordinary success,” PM Modi said.

The prime minister got emotional while talking about the success of Chandrayaan-3 and said, “India is on the moon.”

Addressing the scientists, PM Modi said, “India is on the moon. We reached a place where no one had reached before. We did what no one had ever done before. This is today’s India – BOLD and BRAVE.”

He also addressed women scientists’ role in the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3. "Women are now leading India’s scientific endeavors. Women scientists played a key role in Chandrayaan-3," said PM Modi at Isro.

“There was a time when we were counted in the third row. Today, from trade to technology, India is standing in the first row among developed countries. In this journey from the ’Third row’ to the ’First row’, institutions like ’Isro’ have played a significant role,” PM Modi said.

PM Modi, addressing the Isro scientists, also said that experts believe India’s space industry will become $16 billion from $8 billion in a few years.

PM Modi added, “India will definitely emerge as a global leader in Science and Technology. This spirit of innovation will take India to newer and newer heights, this spirit of innovation will make India a Developed Nation by 2047!”

Chandrayaan-3 mission achieved a momentous milestone in its space endeavour with the successful soft landing on Moon’s surface on August 23. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had virtually attended the lander module’s touchdown. India is now the first nation to reach near the Moon’s unexplored south pole and ranks among top four nations to carry out a soft landing on the lunar surface.
