Congress leader Motilal Vora allotted nine government houses in Lutyens’

New Delhi, Aug 08, 2014: Congress treasurer Motilal Vora occupies nine government accommodations in Lutyens’ Delhi. As a Rajya Sabha member, Vora has been allotted house number 33 in Lodhi Estate.

vora 1But in reply to an RTI query, the Rajya Sabha secretariat has confirmed Vora is in possession of six more bungalows and two government flats. But he has at least four houses in his name in North Avenue and two in South Avenue.


According to the RTI, Vora possesses bungalows 49, 63, 78 and 112 in North Avenue and bungalow numbers 49 and 139 in South Avenue, both in close vicinity of the Rashtrapati Bhawan. He also has Flat numbers 124 and 507 in Vithalbhai Patel House. Although Vora refuses to admit RTI findings saying, he has "only two houses allotted to him in North Avenue and South Avenue.

But when Mail Today photographer went to click the pictures of these houses, four of which are undergoing renovation, the people present on ground confirmed Vora as the official occupant of these houses. It is also learnt that Vora has rented out some of these accommodations to politicians, including one in VB House at Rafi Marg.

On Wednesday, Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu had informed Parliament that 16 former UPA ministers have been overstaying in their allotted government accommodation and they were served eviction notices along with damages ranging from Rs.50,000 to Rs.2 lakh.
