Congress not interested in Muslim empowerment: Asaduddin Owaisi

New Delhi, Jun 15, 2018 : India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday accused Congress and Rahul Gandhi of playing vote bank politics. His comments came just a day after Congress held an iftar party after two years.

 

Owaisi termed iftar hosted by Rahul at a 5-star hotel as hypocrisy of highest order. Congress is not interested in Muslim empowerment, he said. He further added that Congress is trying their level best to get Hindu votes.

By inviting Pranab Mukherjee and making him sit beside Rahul Gandhi, the message is loud and clear, the Hyderabad MP said referring to recent controversy over former presidents presence at a RSS event.

Rahul Gandhi held his iftar gathering after taking over as Congress president at Taj hotel on Wednesday. Congress had extended an invitation to a host of politicians from the opposition. Leaders like Manmohan Singh, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ahmed Patel, Sitaram Yechury and Sharad Yadav also attended the event.
