Thiruvanantapuram, Feb 04, 2022: Easing up on Covid-19 curbs, the Kerala government has decided to reopen schools and colleges in the state.
According to sources, colleges will be reopened on Monday, February 7 and schools for students from Class 1 to 9 will begin on February 14.
The decision was made at an evaluation meeting presided over by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday. All exams will be held without any delay.
People arriving from abroad will be tested only if they have covid symptoms. They will also have restrictions on contact. The meeting also approved the current criteria that people arriving from abroad should mandatorily be subject to a RT PCR test.
The meeting also decided to ensure that no unreasonable rates are deducted at the various airports for rapid tests. The CM has instructed the health department to ensure this.
A total of 85 percent of people have taken the second dose of vaccination in the state, while 72 percent of students have also gotten vaccinated.
The various categories have also been changed. Only Kollam remains in the C category. Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Wayanad and Kannur are under the B category, while Malappuram and Kozhikode are in the A category.
