Chapra, June 25: At least four passengers were killed and nine seriously injured when nine bogies of New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express got derailed in Bihar early Thursday.The incident occurred around 2:11 am.
According to sources, the accident occurred around 2.10 am between Chhapra and Goldenganj in Bihar. Seven passenger bogies, a pantry car and an SLR bogies got derailed.
The railway officials have confirmed four deaths so far.
"The train derailed at around 2.15 am, prima facie cause seems to be sabotage.Maoists had announced blockade today," Arunendra Kumar,Railway Board Chairman told ANI.
The government has announced a compensation of Rs.2 lakhs to the kin of deceased, Rs.1 lakh to those seriously injured and
Rs.20, 000 to the passengers who sustained minor injuries.
Senior railway officials have reached the site of accident and rescue operations are underway.
Authorities have ruled out sabotage as the cause of the derailment.
