Delhi: Man beats wife and toddler son to death

Delhi, Jan 17, 2018 : In a brutal murder, a 36-year-old man killed his wife and one-and-a-half year old son with a brick and to ensure the duo was dead, he stabbed them too.

 

The gruesome double murder was witnessed by the couple’s elder son who is six years old. The accused is still absconding.

The incident took place on Monday night in the slum area of west Delhi’s Jahangirpuri G Block. The matter came to light on Tuesday morning when the couple’s elder son morning informed a neighbour.

His statement has been recorded and accordingly a crime sequence was established.

According to police, accused Om Prakash works as a painter.

It has been learnt that Prakash was under the influence of alcohol and killed his wife-Sunita and the infant child-Anil when both were asleep.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Aslam Khan said the bodies bore multiple injuries and were recovered from the first floor of the house.

A relative of the victim told police that the couple used to fight over petty issues.

"On Monday night, they had dinner with other family members after which an argument ensued. The matter was, however, resolved and the couple went to sleep with their two sons on the first floor of the house. In the morning, Shobha and Anil were found dead," said the relative.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem. The elder son told police he saw his father beating up his mother and younger brother.

"We have taken the statement from the elder son but the reason and the exact sequence of the incident will be clear once his father is arrested," Khan said.

Prakash married Shobha 10 years ago.
