Details received from Tihar Jail officials reveal that Ram Singh committed suicide by hanging himself from the grills of his cell using his shirt.
When the incident came to light at around 5 am, Ram Singh was was rushed to the hospital but declared dead on arrival. The body was then sent for post mortem at Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital.

A metropolitan magistrate will inquire into the circumstances in which the suicide took place.
