Don’t hoist flag at Red Fort as it belongs to Muslims: Shaheen Bagh speaker to Modi

New delhi, MArch 19, 2020:  A video of a man delivering hateful speech at Shaheen Bagh in Delhi has gone viral on various social media platforms.

 

It was uploaded on a Facebook page, ‘Jamia World’.“After 70 years of Independence, today Modi-ji (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) is saying that Muslims will have to undergo NRC (sic), Amit Shah says will do the NRC. What NRC? Is the Red Fort of your forefathers’? Is this Qutub Minar of your forefathers’? Is the Taj Mahal, where you took (US President Donald) Trump, of your forefathers’? They’re our forefathers’, not your’s. Listen, those who ask for documents in NRC, this Red Fort is our proof. The Taj Mahal is our proof and the Qutub Minar is our proof,” he can heard saying.

“Why do you unfurl the Tricolour (the Indian National Flag) at the Red Fort on Independence Day? I say, you should fly the flag at the toilets you built. Only then I’ll call you a real ‘Hindustani’. Red Fort isn’t your father’s property. It is our father’s property. This cannot happen.”

The protests at Shaheen Bagh have been going on for more than two months against the Citizenship Amendment Act. There have been calls to disperse it in the face of deadly COVID-19 but the adamant protesters have refused to budge.
