New Delhi, Nov 03, 2023: Elon Musk made an interesting revelation about his son’s Indian connection during a meeting with the Minister of State (MoS) for Electronics and Information Technology, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, which took place in Britain. Sharing a picture from their meeting, Chandrashekhar tweeted about his meeting with Musk and also revealed his son’s middle name having an Indian twist.
Taking to X, Rajeev Chandrasekhar disclosed an interesting tidbit: Elon Musk and Shivon Zilis’s son shares the middle name "Chandrasekhar." This unique name is an homage to the renowned Nobel physicist, Professor S. Chandrasekhar, who earned the prestigious award in 1983. Shivon Alice Zilis, a Canadian venture capitalist specializing in technology and artificial intelligence, is the child’s mother.
Confirming Chandrashekhar’s revelation, Zillis said, “Haha, yes, that’s true. We call him Sekhar for short, but the name was chosen in honor of our children’s heritage and the amazing Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar.”
Rajeev was attending the Global AI Summit, an event that unites policymakers, investors, and innovators to deliberate on the current state of AI, investment prospects, commitments, and governance. In his capacity as India’s representative at the summit, Chandrasekhar highlighted India’s significant strides in the digital economy. The country has expanded its digital economy from 4.5 per cent of the total GDP to an impressive 11 per cent, with aspirations to reach 20 per cent by 2025-26.
Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, graced the summit with his presence on both days. Musk emphasized the pressing importance of AI safety, describing it as one of the most critical existential risks due to the rapid pace of technological advancement.
Furthermore, an exciting joint Q&A session between Elon Musk and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was scheduled in London after the summit’s conclusion.
The United Kingdom and its global partners announced a groundbreaking ã80 million project to fund artificial intelligence initiatives worldwide, beginning in Africa. This collaborative effort involving Britain, Canada, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation aims to promote "safe and responsible" AI programming. The UK AI for Development Programme will contribute ã38 million to support these cutting-edge technology partnerships addressing global challenges. The announcement was made at the historic Bletchley Park, near London, during the Artificial Intelligence Safety Summit, further highlighting the importance of AI in today’s world.
