Fire in Hyderabad godown kills 11 migrant workers from Bihar

Hyderabad, Mar 23, 2022: Eleven workers were burnt alive when a fire engulfed a scrap godown in Hyderabad’s Bhoiguda area. Six fire engines were required to bring the fire under control. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao expressed shock over the incident and announced an ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the families of each of the dead workers.

A short circuit is suspected to be the reason behind the accident which triggered a fire at around 4 am. According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) central zone, all eleven bodies were retrieved from the wreckage and shifted to Gandhi Hospital for further formalities.

All those who died were migrant workers from Bihar employed at the scrap godown.

The eleven migrant workers from Bihar were working in a scrap godown in Hyderabad. It is suspected that a short circuit triggered the fire in the godown at around 4 am on Wednesday, March 23.
