Fodder scam is a case pertaining to fraudulent withdrawal of more than Rs. 89 Lakh from Deoghar treasury between 1991 and 1994.

Lalu, accompanied by younger son Tejaswi Yadav, arrived here yesterday to present himself before the special CBI Judge Shiv Pal Singh.

Besides the two ex-chief ministers, former MP R K Rana, three former IAS officers - Phoolchand Singh, Beck Julius and Mahesh Prasad - are also among the 22 accused in the fodder case.

Speaking exclusively to India Today on board the Patna-Ranchi flight today, Lalu said he was innocent.

"I am not at all tensed over the judgment to come tomorrow. I have complete faith in the judicial system of the country," said Lalu Prasad Yadav.

A charge-sheet was filed against 38 persons on October 27, 1997.

Citing the example of how the complete 2G scam case took a U-turn on Thursday when the special CBI court acquitted all the 18 accused, including then Telecom Minister A Raja and DMK leader Kanimozhi, for lack of evidence of their involvement in the scam, Lalu said, similarly, in the fodder scam there was no case per se and he hopes be a free man soon.

"CAG and BJP were hand in glove and both hatched a conspiracy to implicate Congress and DMK leaders in the 2G case. The BJP created an atmosphere in the country against the Congress and came to power," said the RJD chief

Lalu said that his party has always emerged stronger whenever he had to go to jail in fodder scam case. He said that BJP was aware that he could not be defeated, and therefore, used fodder scam cases to contain him.
