Belagavi, Mar 20, 2023: Unemployed graduates in Karnataka will be given Rs 3,000 per month for two years and diploma holders Rs 1,500 per month for the same duration if the Congress is voted to power in Karnataka in the upcoming election, Rahul Gandhi said at a rally in the state’s Belagavi on Monday. The Congress MP ripped into the BJP over jobs, alleged scams in the state and the allegation that the government charges 40 per cent as commission from contractors.

“During the Bharat Jodo Yatra, youngsters came up to me and said there are no jobs for them in this state,” Rahul Gandhi said.

“The Congress will give Rs 3,000 to every graduate every month for two years and Rs 1,500 to diploma holders for two years. We won’t stop there. We will give jobs to 10 lakh young men and women within five years and fill the 2.5 lakh vacancies in the state. Women, too, spoke about their problems during the Yatra. We will give Rs 2,000 per month to women, 10 kg of rice to every family under the poverty line, and 2,000 units of free electricity,” he added.

Rahul Gandhi said that during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, everybody walked together and there was no hatred, no violence. "There was brotherhood and respect for all. Lakhs opened shops of love in the market of hate. And this is our India,” Rahul Gandhi said.

“The country belongs to all, not just to a select few. It does not belong to Adani. It belongs to the farmers, the labourers, the young and the poor,” he added.

There is widespread corruption in the state, Rahul Gandhi claimed, adding that no action has been taken in the Mysore Sandal Soap corporation scandal, in the case of a BJP MLA’s son who was caught with crores, and in the job scams. “There is rampant corruption in the state because the friends of the BJP government are being favoured in Karnataka. There are no jobs in the state, the government is charging 40 per cent as commission from contractors and this government is the most corrupt in the country,” he added.

“We will fight the election and will sweep the state because people want to remove the BJP government. We will defeat the BJP together with a massive mandate,” Rahul Gandhi said.
