Giriraj Singh Says Indian Muslims Descendants of Lord Ram, Welcomes Shia Waqf Board’s Proposal

New Delhi, Nov 27, 2017 : Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Sunday said Indian Muslims are descendants of Lord Ram and they should Hindus in building Ram Temple at Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya. Giriraj Singh welcomed the proposal put forward by Shia Waqf Board and said Muslims should let the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya and give up their claim of the disputed land.

 

“Hum aur Musalman, dono ek he vanshaj ke hain. Yahan ka koi Muslaman Babur ka aulaad nahi hai. Yahan ka Musalman jo hai Ram ka aulaad hai. Dharm padhatti hum dono ka alag ho sakta hai, lekin purvaj humare ek hain. (We (Hindus) and Muslims are from the same lineage. Here, no Muslim is a child of (Mughal emperor) Babur. The Muslim here is a child of Ram. We may have different religious methods but our ancestor is one),” Giriraj Singh, as reported by Indian Express, told media.

Speaking about the proposal of the Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board for resolving the Ayodhya dispute, the outspoken Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said, “Isiliye Musalman bhai, Shia aagey barhe hain, Sunni bhi aagey barhein aur samaj ki samrasta banane mein wo bhi aagey barh kar ke, ek eenta hum daalenge, ek eenta Musalmaan bhai bhi daalen kyunki purvajon ka hum mandir bana rahe hain. Aur banega mandir, Bharat mein nahi banega toh kya Pakistan mein banega (So Muslim brothers, Shias have come forward and Sunnis should also come forward for social harmony; we will lay one brick and Muslim brothers should then lay one brick too, because we are making a temple for our ancestors. And the temple will be constructed. If it is not constructed in India, then in Pakistan)?”

The Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Waqf Board came up with a proposal wherein they suggested building Ram temple at disputed Ayodhya site and the mosque in Lucknow. Earlier, the Shia Waqf Board had proposed to the apex court that a temple can be built in Ayodhya and the mosque be located nearby in a Muslim-dominated area.

The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court had in 2010 ruled a three-way division of the disputed 2.77 acres area at the Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid site in Ayodhya. The three-judge bench of the high court, by a 2:1 majority, had said the land be partitioned equally among three parties — the Sunni Waqf Board, the Nirmohi Akhara and Ram Lalla.
