Ahmedabad, Oct 22: Bad times continue for self-styled godman Asaram as locals in Valsad, Gujarat burnt down portions of his ashram. This comes as a result of the controversies that have been surrounding Asaram.

Two farmers had reportedly given their land to Asaram for making a Satsang centre. But in the light of all the recent cases registered against the self-styled godman, they demanded their land be handed back to them.

Meanwhile, the controversial self-styled godman’s police remand ends on Tuesday in connection with the sexual assault case against him in Surat.

However, Asaram’s son Narayan Sai, who is also accused of sexual assault, is still absconding. Spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar appealed to Narayan Sai to surrender before court and present his case "boldly".

"Narayan Sai should not be afraid of police if he is right," said the founder of the Art of Living, adding that running and escaping from the problem is no solution. In reply to a question regarding Asaram, Ravi Shankar said, "The whole alleged episode has brought a stigma to the entire Sant Samaj in the country".
