Gurugram IAS aspirant found dead in guest house, male acquaintance booked for murder

Delhi, Jul 25, 2018 : A 23-year-old woman, who was preparing for Indian Administrative Service (IAS), died nearly four hours after she checked into a guest house facility in Sector 46 on Monday evening with a man known to her, the police said.

 

The police said the male acquaintance, who is absconding, took the woman to a private hospital in Sector 44 around midnight and fled soon after.

Inderjit Singh, assistant commissioner of police at Sadar, said the deceased, identified by her first name Priyanka, and her acquaintance, Ravinder Yadav (24), checked into a room on the second floor of a guest house facility at 8.30pm in Sector 46, nearly 9km from her parental house in Kadipur industrial area near Sector 10.

“At 1am, the police got a call from the hospital about a woman, who had been declared brought dead. However, the family of the deceased have alleged that the man, who lived in their neighbourhood, had kidnapped and killed their daughter. We are conducting raids to trace the accused,” Singh said.

The father of the deceased, Prem Chand, had lodged a complaint to this effect and the police filed a case of murder at the Sector 50 police station. Sector 50 station house officer Surender Singh Phogat said the autopsy report was awaited.

The police added that for the past three months Priyanka was staying at a paying guest accommodation in Mukherjee Nagar, an area in north-east Delhi, where she had enrolled in coaching classes for IAS exams.

In the complaint, Chand, who owns a flour mill, alleged that his daughter had been kidnapped and murdered by Ravinder Yadav, a resident of Saraswati Enclave, who had been harassing Priyanka for some time. Chand said they had warned Yadav to not stalk her.

“My daughter left for her PG from our house (in Kadipur industrial area) on Monday around 6pm. At 10pm, she spoke to my wife over the phone saying she was about to reach the PG,” Chand stated in the complaint.

An autopsy conducted at the Gurugram Civil Hospital, on Tuesday, suggested that the victim died due to “a partial rupture of liver leading to internal bleeding”.

Dr Yogendra, who conducted the post-mortem examination, said, “The viscera samples and vaginal swabs have been sent for forensic examination. The body had no external visible injury marks and no sign of assault or retaliation. The victim was lean and considering her stomach was empty, it is likely that liver laceration led to internal bleeding,” he said, adding that the exact cause of death would be known once viscera report is out.

A police official privy to the investigation said the woman was taken to the hospital in the car of another guest at the lodge, who offered help when he saw the accused carrying the unconscious victim in his arms.
