Himachal reports 1st death and country’s ninth

Himachal Pradesh, Mar 23, 2020: A 69-year-old Tibetan refugee, who died at a hospital in Tanda in Himachal Pradesh on Monday, 23 March, has been tested positive for COVID-19. He returned from the United States on 15 March, reported ANI, quoting RD Dhiman, State Additional Chief Secretary (Health), Yahoo reported.

As the total number of cases jumped to at least 467 across the nation on Monday, 23 March, Maharashtra and Kerala recorded the highest numbers with 97 and 91 respectively.

The Civil Aviation Ministry on Monday announced that domestic commercial airlines shall cease operations from 24 March midnight till 31 March.

The Government of India has asked states to strictly enforce lockdown, saying that legal action will be taken against violators.

The total number of coronavirus cases across the globe stands at at least 3,50,000 according to AFP.
