I-T officials raid Jaya TV, 80 other locations

Chennai, Nov 09, 2017 : The Income Tax department has launched a massive raid against properties and people associated with the AIADMK over suspicions of tax evasion as part of ’Operation Clean Money’. The raids began at 6 AM at the channel’s office in Ekkatthuthanga, and is currently ongoing.

 

The properties being raided include Jaya TV, which is currently owned by Sasikala, Midas Distilleries and Jazz Cinemas, among others. Divakaran, Sasikala’s brother, is also being included in the list of entities suspected of evading taxes.

The I-T department also suspects that the alleged parties are making use of shell companies to launder money.
