Mysuru, Feb 27 2018 : Actor Prakash Rai, on Monday, said that he opposes the Rightists, but, he is not in favour of the Leftists. "I am in favour of humanity," he clarified.
During an interaction with journalists at Mysuru District Journalist Association, he said, "I am not supporting or strengthening the Leftists. I have no intention to join politics."
Rai said that he has many questions to the political parties, including the Congress, and he would raise them once he gets the answer to his present query.
"Even though everyone has the right to question, a few people are trying to violate it. I am not against any community. No one should oppose or hate a particular community. Communalism by anyone should not be tolerated," he added.
Fear of Hegde’s skills
Rai said that he fears the BJP leaders and Union Minister for Skill Development Ananth Kumar Hegde for their remarks on minority communities.
"Instead of speaking about skill development, Hegde makes derogatory remarks on minority people. He speaks about changing the Constitution and eradicating a particular community from the nation. I am afraid of giving the country into the hands of such leaders, who are demonic in nature. Is he a leader? Do we need such an irresponsible MP and minister?" he asked.
Taking exception to Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha’s statements, Rai said that the MP speaks low language and comments on mother and wife. "Why do the BJP leaders not question these people, who are trying to divide the country on the basis of the community?" he questioned.
"Communalism is dangerous than corruption. Thus, I raise the question. My agitation is against the system and not against a particular community," he said.
Nalapad a ’demon’
When mediapersons asked about Mohammed Nalapad, who has allegedly assaulted one Vidwath in Bengaluru recently, Rai said that he regrets praising Nalpad in a programme, a month back.
"Nalapad, son of Shantinagar MLA N A Haris, is a demon and persons like him should not be tolerated. He had come forward to contribute funds to a village, which I adopted. I was not aware of him (Nalpad). He donated Rs 2 lakh for the development works. But I have returned the funds after I learnt about him and the incident," Rai claimed.
GST, Swachh Bharat
Prakash Rai appreciated the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Swachh Bharat programme by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "Though the programmes are a good move, they need slight changes. I welcome GST, but, opposed 18% tax on handloom products," he said.
Safety concern
Rai said that his family members, friends, relatives and well-wishers are worried about his safety.
When reporters asked him about his stand on River Cauvery water-sharing issue, he said, it is a sensitive issue.
