Dantewada, Chhattisgarh, Jan 18: A chopper of the Indian Air Force, which was sent to rescue two army jawans who were injured in Naxal attack, went missing from Dantewada in Chhattisgarh on Friday. It was, however, found around 40 minutes at Timarpur in Chhattisgarh.
The Air Force chopper had gone from Jagdalpur to Sukma to pick the injured jawans at around 4.51 pm, but went off radar in the region. After the chopper was located, it was cordoned off by the CRPF.
According to official sources, suspected Naxals fired at the Indian Air Force chopper, injuring at least one person on board.
However CRPF Director General said, "I will not comment whether it came under fire from Naxals. One person had died and two other were injured in Naxal encounter for whom the chopper had gone for rescue...the chopper has landed at Sukma."
