India logs 20,799 new Covid cases, 8.9% lower than yesterday

New Delhi, Oct 04, 2021: India has registered 20,799 new cases in the last 24 hours, 8.9 per cent lower than yesterday. With this, India’s total caseload touched 3,38,34,702.

 

The country reported 180 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total reported death count to 4,48,997.

TOP DEVELOPMENTS

    *The top five states which have registered maximum cases are Kerala with 12,297 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 2,692 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,531 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 765 cases and West Bengal with 701 cases.

    *Around 86.47 per cent of the new cases are reported from these five states, with Kerala alone responsible for 59.12 per cent of the new cases.

    *Maximum casualties were reported in Kerala with 74 fresh casualties, followed by Maharashtra with 41 daily deaths.

    *India’s recovery rate now stands at 97.89 per cent.

    *A total of 26,718 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total recoveries to 3,31,21,247 across the country.

    *India’s active caseload stands at 2,64,458. In the last 24 hours, active cases declined by 6,099.

    *India has administered a total of 23,46,176 doses in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 90,79,32,861.

    *A total of 9,91,676 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
