New Delhi, Jul 31, 2021: India recorded 41,649 cases of Covid-19 and around 600 coronavirus-related deaths in 24 hours, ending Saturday morning.
According to updated data from the Union Health Ministry, the top five states which registered maximum cases are Kerala with 20,772 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 6,600 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 2,068 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,947 cases and Karnataka with 1,890 cases.
The data shows that 79.9 per cent of the new Covid cases have been reported from the five states, with Kerala responsible for 49.87% of the total cases.
The Covid death toll, meanwhile, climbed to 4,23,810 on Saturday morning. At least 593 deaths due to Covid were reported in the country in the last 24 hours.
Maximum casualties were reported in Maharashtra (231), followed by Kerala with 116 daily deaths.
A total of 37,291 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total recoveries to 3,07,81,263 across the country. India’s recovery rate now stands at 97.37 per cent. India’s active caseload climbed to 4,08,920.
So far, India has administered a total of 46,15,18,479 doses. On Friday, 52,99,036 doses of Covid vaccine were administered.
