India records 12,516 new Covid-19 cases, 4.4% lower than yesterday

New Delhi, Nov 12, 2021: India registered 12,516 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, which is 4.4% lower than yesterday, according to data released by the Union Health Ministry on Friday. The total caseload now stands at 3,44,14,186.

The cumulative death toll rose to 4,62,690 after 501 fatalities due to Covid-19 were reported in the last 24 hours.

The top five states that have registered maximum Covid-19 cases are Kerala (7,224 cases), Maharashtra (997), West Bengal (854), Tamil Nadu (820) and Mizoram (631).

The five states account for 84.1 per cent of the new cases. Kerala is alone responsible for 57.72 per cent of the new novel coronavirus cases.

Maximum Covid-related casualties were reported in Kerala (419), followed by Maharashtra with 28 daily deaths.

A total of 13,155 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, taking India’s recovery rate to 98.26%. The total recoveries now stand at 3,38,14,080 across the country.

In the last 24 hours, active cases declined by 1,140. India’s active caseload stands at 1,37,416.

India has administered 53,81,889 doses in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally to 1,10,79,51,225. A total of 11,89,470 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
