New Delhi, Sep 06, 2021: India recorded 38,948 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours on Monday. This is 8.9 per cent lower than the daily case count of 42,766 fresh cases on Sunday. There are 4,04,874 active cases in the country at present, which is 5,174 lower than what was reported the previous day.
Additionally, India reported 219 Covid-19 fatalities in 24 hours on Monday, taking the total reported toll to 4,40,572.
A total of 43,903 patients recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing India’s total recoveries to 3,21,81,995. India’s recovery rate stands at 97.44 per cent currently.
The weekly positivity rate in the country is 2.58 per cent. It has been less than three per cent for the last 73 days. The daily positivity rate is 2.76 per cent currently.
The five states which registered the most number of cases on Monday are Kerala with 26,701 cases, Maharashtra with 4,057 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 1,623 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,592 cases and Karnataka with 1,117 cases.
More than 90 per cent of India’s fresh cases on Monday were reported in these five states alone, with Kerala responsible for 68.56 per cent of the new cases.
The maximum Covid-19 casualties on Monday were reported in Kerala (74), followed by Maharashtra with 67 deaths.India administered a total of 25,23,089 Covid-19 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, bringing the total tally of doses administered in the country to 68,75,41,762.
