New Delhi, Jun 09, 2021: India has recorded 92,596 fresh Covid-19 cases and 2,219 deaths in the past 24 hours, showing a slight increase in the number of new cases from Monday’s tally.
The top five states which have registered the maximum Covid-19 cases are Tamil Nadu with 18,023 cases, followed by Kerala with 15,567 cases, Maharashtra with 10,891 cases, Karnataka with 9,808 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 7,796 cases.
Of the total 92,000 fresh cases, 67.04% have been reported from these five states, with Tamil Nadu alone responsible for 19.46% of the new cases.
With the fresh spike, India’s Covid case tally has now reached 2,90,89,069.
Apart from the fresh cases, 2,219 deaths were also reported in the country in the past 24 hours, taking India’s total Covid-19 death toll to 3,53,528
Maximum casualties have been reported from Maharashtra where 702 people died on Tuesday, followed by Tamil Nadu with 409 deaths.
Meanwhile, India’s recovery rate now stands at 94.55%. A total of 1,62,664 Covid-19 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total recoveries to 2,75,04,126 across the country.
India’s active caseload now stands at 12,31,415. In the last 24 hours, active cases declined by 72,287.
On the other hand, India has administered a total of 27,76,096 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 23,90,58,360.
