India records big jump in Covid numbers with 20,139 new cases

New Delhi, July 14, 2022: India recorded 20,139 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, 19.1 per cent higher than the previous day. This brings the total number of cases to 4,36,89,989 according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday.

 

The death toll climbed to 5,25,557 with 38 new fatalities reported in the country in the last 24 hours.

The top five states where 62.56 per cent of the cases were reported were Kerala, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Kerala alone is responsible for 17.6 per cent of the cases.

Meanwhile, a total of 16,482 patients recovered fully, which brings the total recoveries to 4,30,28,356 across the country. India’s recovery rate now stands at 98.49 per cent.

A total of 13,44,714 Covid vaccine doses were administered within that period, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 1,99,27,27,559.
