New Delhi, Aug 14, 2021: India reported 38,667 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, with 478 people succumbing to the infection in the last 24 hours, according to data shared by the Union Health Ministry.
Total recoveries were at 3,13,38,088 across the country, while active cases stood at 3,87,673. In the last 24 hours, active cases increased by 2,446.
Among all the states, Kerala reported the highest Covid-19 cases at 20,452, followed by Maharashtra with 6,686 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,933 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 1,746 cases and Karnataka with 1,669 cases.
These five states accounted for 84.02 per cent of the daily new cases reported on Sunday, with Kerala alone responsible for 52.89 per cent of the fresh infections.
On Saturday, 478 Covid-related fatalities were recorded. Maximum casualties were reported in Maharashtra (158), followed by Kerala with 114 deaths in the last 24 hours.
A total of 35,743 patients recovered during the last 24 hours. The recovery rate further increased to 97.45 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate continued to remain below five per cent.
India conducted 22,29,798 tests during the previous day, according to the Health Ministry data.
A total of 63,80,937 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 53,61,89,903.
