New Delhi, Jul 10, 2021: India reported 42,766 fresh Covid-19 cases and 1,206 deaths in 24 hours on Saturday.
The country’s active caseload now stands at 4,55,033. The current active cases constitute 1.48 per cent of the cumulative Covid-19 cases in India. Active cases declined by 3,694 in the last 24 hours.
In the last 24 hours, 45,254 patients also recovered from Covid-19. The cumulative number of Covid recoveries so far is nearing the 3 crore mark at 2,99,33,538. The recovery rate has risen to 97.2 per cent.
STATES WITH MAXIMUM CASES
The top five states which registered maximum daily cases on Saturday are Kerala with 13,563 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 8,992 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 3,040 cases, Tamil Nadu with 3,039 cases and Odisha with 2,806 cases.
These five states are responsible for 73.52 per cent of the new cases. More than 30 per cent of the cases are from Kerala alone.
On Saturday, maximum Covid casualties were reported in Maharashtra (738), followed by Kerala with 130 daily deaths.
POSITIVITY RATE
The daily positivity rate in India is 2.19 per cent. It has been less than 3 per cent for 19 consecutive days now.
The weekly positivity rate has remained below 5 per cent and is 2.34 per cent at present.
Positivity rate is defined as the percentage of coronavirus tests performed that turn out to be positive.
Testing capacity in India has been substantially ramped up. A total of 42.9 crore tests have been conducted so far. In the last 24 hours, 19,55,225 samples were tested for Covid-19.
VACCINATION DRIVE
Under the nationwide vaccination drive, 37.21 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far. In the last 24 hours alone, 30,55,802 vaccine doses were given.
