Indore declared India’s cleanest city for fifth time in a row

Indore, Nov 20, 2021: Madhya Pradesh’s Indore has yet again made it as India’s cleanest city in the nationwide annual cleanliness survey. Indore was declared India’s cleanest city for the fifth time in a row by the central government on Saturday.The Indore collector took to Twitter to congratulate the residents of the city on the achievement. "Congratulations to the residents of Indore as the city has been declared the cleanest city of the country for the fifth time in a row. Collector Manish Singh has said that this has been possible due to the cleanliness awareness of the citizens," tweeted the Indore collector.

While Indore has been named as India’s cleanest city this year as well, Gujarat’s Surat ranked second in the nationwide annual cleanliness survey, ’Swachh Survekshan 2021. Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh bagged the third position.

 


Varanasi has been the adjudged the "cleanest Ganga town" in the survey announced by the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry.

Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh has been declared as India’s cleanest state.

President Ram Nath Kovind gave away awards to winners on Saturday.

Earlier this year, Indore was also declared as the country’s first ’water plus’ city. Swachh Survekshan is an annual survey of cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation in cities and towns across India launched as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
