Iran’s ’zombie Angelina Jolie’ reveals real face after release from jail in blasphemy

Tehran, Oct 27, 2022: Sahar Tabar, an Iranian woman who became famous for posting spooky photos resembling Hollywood actor Angelina Jolie on Instagram, has revealed her real face.

 

Sahar, who looked like "zombie Angelina Jolie," revealed her face to an Iranian TV channel after her release from jail, the Independent reported. She was arrested and jailed in 2019 for "insulting hijab" on charges of blasphemy.

Many believed that her appearance was a result of botched plastic surgery. After her release from jail, the 21-year-old said she had undergone some cosmetic procedures, like a nose job, lip fillers, and liposuction, but stressed that the infamous images were a result of make-up and editing in Photoshop.

She had previously claimed to have had more than 50 surgeries in her attempt to look like Angelina Jolie.

Sahar Tabar, whose real name is Fatemeh Khishvand, said she always wanted to become famous and chose the macabre makeover to gain international attention.

She was released after 14 months amid widespread protests in Iran following the death of Mahsa Amini in police custody for not wearing her hijab properly. The news of her release was shared by activist Masih Alinejad.

When she was jailed, Alinejad had tweeted: "Sahar Tabar is only 19. Her joke landed her in jail. Her mother cries every day to get her innocent daughter freed. Dear Angelina Jolie, we need your voice here. Help us."
