Ahmedabad, June 10, 2023: The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Gujarat Police has busted an Islamic State module in the coastal town of Porbandar and apprehended four suspects, including a woman.
According to ATS sources, raids are underway at the premises of one more person, who is a foreign national.
ATS had received input that the four accused were part of the IS terror module. They had been in contact with each other for the past one year and had planned to flee the country and join the IS. The ATS identified them and tracked their movements.
Under the leadership of DIG Deepan Bhadran and SP Sunil Joshi, the operation to nab the four accused, including a woman named Sumera, started in Porbandar late on Friday. Several prohibited items were found during the raid.
All the four accused were radicalised by their handlers across the border in Pakistan.
A few days ago, the Gujarat ATS arrested three more people, suspected to be IS members, in Ahmedabad.
